Our Values

Respect and Dignity:
  • Recognizing humanity:

    • Individuals with developmental disabilities, like all people, should be treated with respect for their inherent worth and dignity. They are entitled to make decisions, express themselves, and participate in society just like anyone else.

Promoting Inclusion:

By treating people with respect, we encourage their inclusion in community activities, education, and employment. This helps break down societal barriers and reduces stigma associated with developmental disabilities.

Rights Protection:
  • Legal rights:

    • Individuals with developmental disabilities have the same fundamental legal rights as all citizens, including the right to vote, access education, receive healthcare, and live in a safe and supportive environment. Service providers must ensure that these rights are protected and respected at all times.

  • Self-determination:

    • People with developmental disabilities have the right to make decisions about their own lives, including choices about where they live, what services they receive, and how they spend their time. This aligns with the principle of autonomy, allowing individuals to have control over their lives and to be active participants in decision-making.

  • Freedom from abuse:

    • It is essential that individuals with developmental disabilities are protected from any form of abuse or exploitation. Service providers have a responsibility to ensure that all individuals are treated fairly, and their safety and rights are not violated.

Individualized Support:

  • Tailored services:

    • People with developmental disabilities often require specific support services to help them live independent and fulfilling lives. These services should be tailored to each individual’s needs, preferences, and goals, while always respecting their dignity and ensuring their rights are honored.

  • Empowerment:

    • Support should focus on empowering individuals with developmental disabilities, helping them develop skills, increase independence, and engage in society to the fullest extent possible. This includes providing access to opportunities for education, employment, and social activities.

Advocacy:

  • Ensuring equal opportunities:

    • Advocating for the rights of people with developmental disabilities is crucial to ensuring they have equal access to services, opportunities, and treatment. This includes advocating against discrimination, fighting for accessible facilities, and pushing for policies that promote inclusivity and independence.
